PYRENEES SCALES HEIGHTS

The Eddie O’Leary bred Pyrenees (2 c Rock Of Gibraltar – Belsay, by Belmez) broke his Maiden in style when landing the valuable Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery over one mile at Listowel last Monday. Pyrenees enjoyed the run of the race camped in behind the leaders, he picked up strongly in the final furlong to run on to defeat Hebridean (2 g Bach – Delphinium, by Dr Massini) by three-quarters of a length with Dick Morris (2 g Kalanisi – Moet, by Mac’s Imp) close up in third place.

The progressive Pyrenees is yet another winner for his multiple Group 1 winning sire Rock Of Gibraltar and races for Mrs. John Magnier. A 200,000 euros Goffs Million yearling, he is trained in Ireland by David Wachman. Belsay has a full-sister to Pyrenees catalogued as lot 461 in the upcoming Goffs Million Sale.

FARREL DOUBLES UP IN ITALY

Farrel (2 c Fruits Of Love – Folcungi, by Mukaddamah) was the comfortable winner of the Premio Vittorio Riva (Listed) at San Siro on Sunday. Farrel led home a 1,2,3 for Irish stallions when defeating Eldest (2 c Indian Ridge) by two and a half lengths with Sampeyre (2 c Orpen) filling third place. This is the second Listed win for Farrel who landed the Premio Giuseppe de Montel in July. His multiple Group-winning sire Fruits Of Love stands at Annshoon Stud.
