New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing (NZTR) announced on Thursday the appointment of Jo Griffin to the role of NZTR Industry Marketing Coordinator. She takes up the role on Monday, 10 March. Paul Bittar, NZTR Chief Executive, welcomed Jo to this role within NZTR and explained the background to her appointment. “Over the past two years NZTR has, through additional industry funding, put in place initiatives increasing returns to owners by over $20 million. To complement this, we looked to improve service standards for Owners with the appointment of an Ownership Marketing Coordinator, a role implemented in January 2007.” “As a result of that appointment we have put in place a number of initiatives, beyond improved funding, benefiting owners over the past year. We are continuing to explore and establish minimum standards for Owners on raceday in conjunction with clubs, and the introduction of mechanisms for Trainers to help them improve communication with their Owners.” “The industry has traditionally been extremely fragmented in its approach to Owners. Our aim is to focus clubs on being the customer service vehicle on raceday, delivering improved services and consistent minimum standards to all racegoers including Owners. NZTR has a leadership role to play in delivering these outcomes to our customers, and Jo will coordinate this on our behalf.” “I am delighted Jo has accepted this role. Jo has skills in project management and marketing, and wide experience of the industry. Her first priority will be to work alongside clubs to help to put in place some processes to ensure we retain and grow the number of racegoers, as well as look after our loyal base of Owners. We will also continue our focus on attracting new Owners.” Speaking of her new role, Jo commented: “I am excited about taking up this new challenge, particularly working alongside clubs to determine what the clubs and NZTR can do together to help provide a consistent service level. Ultimately, my aim is to make sure that all our customers keep coming back.” Jo Griffin is currently a partner in Lime Country Thoroughbreds, an agistment, spelling and sales preparation facility in Hawke’s Bay. Previously she has worked for Beamish Bloodstock and Windsor Park Stud, and was National Sales and Marketing Manager for Tee-Zed Products Ltd, the rights holders for Disney and Warner Brothers products in Australasia. |
