UK Breeder Survey 4: 25% Say Industry In Deep Trouble

While the results "suggest breeders are not as gloomy as after-sales gossip would suggest, the survey did indicate a chink in the industry's armour: a full third of breeders taking mares out of production said it was because they could not afford to breed their mares any longer". And nearly a quarter of respondents said they think "the breeding industry is in deep trouble". More than 10% said they were "having doubts about staying in the business, while about the same number said they were staying in business only because they felt they had no choice". (Feb 4)
