Goffs Boss Beeby Warns Bottom Market Struggling
Reflecting on the auction market over last 12 months, Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby summed up: "Some serious issues must be addressed by the industry as a whole. To summarise the 2007 sales season, demand at the top of the market is thriving, the middle is surviving but everything else is struggling. The role of any sales company is to provide an outlet to sell the horses we are offered; but the sheer number of foals born in recent years has resulted in an increasingly palpable gulf between the upper & lower tiers of the market, and a packed sales calendar resulting in some uncomfortable sales clashes. We are confident a solution can be found to the sales dates issue & I look forward to meeting with the other sales companies in the new year to discuss the best way to improve the situation for all concerned."
